High-impact wall panels are the ideal solution for all areas that require superior durability with quality acoustics.  They are designed specifically as an impact resistance absorber panel that offers excellent absorption and high durability.  They are ideal for high-traffic areas such as gymnasiums, corridors, schools and medical facilities.

Wall panels are designed with a 6-7# rigid fiberglass absorber core laminated to 16-20# PCF high-impact underlayment.  They are typically wrapped in fabrics from the Guilford of Maine FR701-2100 fabric line, but can be custom ordered with a fabric of your choice which passes our approval (see our Fabric Selection Guide for additional information on choosing a fabric.)  Standard panels have hard, straight edges but can be ordered with chemically hardened edges as well as with Mitre, Bevel or Radius edge designs (see Product Data tab for edge design options.)

For DIY panels see our extensive Guilford of Maine Fabric lineup as well as our Owens Corning Fiberglass Panels.

Installation Guide

For a printable version of Installation Instructions for Fabric Acoustic Wall Panels, please visit.

Impaling hooks are the recommended installation method for all locations where panels do not need to be moved.  Impaling hooks are provided with each order of acoustic panels.

Before you begin:

  • Decide on panel layout; inspect mounting surfaces to determine suitability for installing panels.
  • Determine clip locations on the wall using a pencil and straight edge to ensure proper placement of clips.  Clips should be evenly spaced on the back of the panel.
  • Clips should be aligned to meet up with the fiberglass section of the panel past the point where the excess fabric ends.
  • For panels up to 24"X48", 6 impaling clips are recommended.  For larger panels, 6-8 clips are recommended.

  • Drill screws into each impaling clip to firmly anchor the clips to the wall.
  • It is recommended that adhesive be used in conjunction with impaling clips to ensure secure attachment of the clips.
  • Apply adhesive to the wall surface as well as the back of the panel.
  • Firmly attach the panel to the wall pressing evenly to ensure complete adhesion.  You can use a clean piece of plywood to firmly distribute pressure on the clip.
