Hat Channels, also known as Metal Furring Channel provide a high-level soundproofing option for decoupling framing from drywall when used in conjunction with our resilient clips as part of a resilient isolation system. Our premium high quality Hat Channels are 12' long. Be sure to overlap channels by 6" and screw them together with self-drilling sheet metal screws. These channels are .25 Gauge with hemmed edges. They are designed to easily hold 2 layers of 5/8 drywall and can safely hold 3 layers. They are perfect for use with our RSIC, TMS Silent Clips and Whisper Clips.
To figure out how many channels you need. Calculate your square footage times 6 percent. E.g. for 1,000 square feet you will need approximately 60 channels.
Installation: Use self tapping drill point screws to screw drywall back to channel.
