The FF109-200 is a low-profile, LED Recessed Light Cover made from flexible material to enable simple installation. Designed to maintain the integrity of openings of up to 6” diameter in fire-rated ceilings. Enhances the acoustic protection of ceilings when penetrated by modern LED downlight fixtures.

Description

Design: Cone-shaped intumescent enclosure made from ultra-flexible material. Can be folded and fitted from above or below the ceiling

Fire-rating:

  • 60-minute flame, smoke and heat barrier protection. The high expansion and insulating properties of the cover ensure that both flame spread and heat transmission are stopped for 60 minutes.
  • Material is heat activated at a temperature of around 400 degrees Fahrenheit and expands to form a highly insulative tough char. The expanded fibers will fill up the entire cover and seal off the gap left by the molten metal fixture.

Acoustic properties: These covers have been tested for soundproofing capabilities and found to significantly reduce the noise traveling through the holes made in the ceiling for the fixtures.

  • FF109-250: 9-7/8"

Applications: Fits most 4” and 6" low profile LED downlight fixtures and LED wafer lights. Can be used in new or retrofit construction in floor/ceiling or roof/ceiling assemblies (attic spaces).

Installation: Easy installation, no screws, drilling or additional sealant required. Can be folded and fitted from above or below the ceiling.

Certifications: 

  • ETL-Intertek certified to maintain the fire rating (1 hour) of fire-rated floor/ceiling assemblies.
  • Tested to ASTM E119, UBC 7 1, NFPA 251, ASI A2.1

Step 1:
  • Install junction box according to manufacturer instructions.
  • Ensure metal wire included with your cover is going through the pre-punched through slots near the top of the cover so that the coil is secured around the outside of the cone.
  • Grasp the legs of the bronze wire firmly and roll cover into a tight cylinder.
  • Keeping a tight grip on the legs, feed the cover through the ceiling cutout.

Step 2:
  • Ensure cover has sprung back into its original cone shape before proceeding.
  • Grasp legs and pull down until L section clears the underside of the ceiling.

Step 3:
  • Move legs out until vertical part of L section is flush with the side of the cut out.
  • Release the legs so they grip the underside of the ceiling.
  • Remove the excess of both legs.

Step 4:

Once cover is in place, LED light element can be fitted following the light manufacturer instructions.
