SonoMatts are made from solid, open-celled Polyurethane, designed using special Eco-friendly materials which cause less global warming emissions and boast improved performance and durability over conventional petroleum-based foams. Studiofoam meets or exceeds the requirements of the demanding professional in terms of both product quality and testing data (See Product Data Tab for acoustical testing data.) They boast improved perfomance and durability over conventional petroleum-based foams.
Auralex SonoMatts are cut in the industry standard "eggcrate" style to keep its price low and absorb almost as well as 2" Studiofoam Wedges but it still outperforms competing "premium" brands that cost way more. It is the perfect product for the budget-conscious consumer!
PLEASE NOTE: These panels are not fire-rated. In applications where fire-rating is a priority, please see our Sonex Panels.
Sonomatt panels are painted throughout the foam thus ensuring uniform colors even when cutting the panels is needed to suit your design. They are easy to install using Foamtak Spray Adhesive or Tubetak Pro Adhesive. They are flexible and easy to cut preferably with an electric carving knife for optimal visual effect.
Due to the manufacturing process, Sonomatt's dimple pattern will not be square to the edges of the panels, so installing them side by side may not advised from a visual consistency standpoint. It is a product of choice for consumers who intend to cover their sound control material with acoustical cloth or for low visibility applications such as equipment closets, broadcast facilities and backstage areas.
