- Understanding Soundproofing
Gaps under a door must be sealed for proper sound control. We recommend sealing the door with an automatic door bottom. The ideal space of the gap is 3/8 of an inch (and not more than 3/4 of an inch). Some doors have gaps of an inch or more. Additionally you will not get a proper seal when you have carpet under the door. A flat utility threshold will remedy this situation by shrinking the gap and by creating a solid surface for your automatic door bottom to close onto.
This solid, heavy gauge flat utility door saddle fits under doors with a gap clearance of at least ¼”. It can be purchased with widths of 4” - 8" wide and is smoke and fire rated. The saddle has a sleek design which finishes off doorways nicely and creates a smooth transition between floor surfaces.
Compliance: Saddle is ADA Compliant and Fire Rated. See product data tab for more details.
Installation: Installation instructions and standard screws provided. When installing into concrete, anchors are recommended (not included).
Before Completing You Order:

1) Bruce: Where should this saddle be positioned when used with a surface mounted automatic door bottom? Center of saddle below center of door? Center of saddle below center of auto door bottom? Other position? Thanks for your help.
Hi Bruce. As long as the Automatic Door Bottom has a flat surface of the saddle beneath it to close onto., you can position the saddle whichever way best suits your needs. So depending how wide your saddle is and how thick your door is will determine how much space you would need under your ADB.
