Utility Door Threshold 1/2" Height

Flat utility thresholds are vital in many soundproofing project. Gaps under a door must be sealed for proper sound control with the ideal space being 3/8 of an inch (and not more than 3/4 of an inch). Some doors have gaps of an inch or more. We recommend sealing the door with an automatic door bottom. However, you will not get a proper seal when you have carpet or any uneven floor surface beneath the door. A flat utility threshold will remedy this situation by shrinking the gap and by creating a solid surface for your automatic door bottom to close onto.

This solid, heavy gauge flat utility door saddle fits under doors with a gap clearance of at least 1/2”. It can be purchased with widths of 3” - 7" and is fire rated. The saddle has a sleek design which finishes off doorways nicely and creates a smooth transition between floor surfaces.

Available Finishes: Product is available in Aluminum Mill Finish and Bronze Mill Finish. Aluminum Mill Finish is plain smooth metal as it comes from the mill, without a coating. Bronze is a mill finish, sometimes referred to as Architectural Bronze. It is a solid bronze piece, which increases longevity and aesthetics, thus the large difference in price. It gets darker in color in time when exposed to the environment.

Installation: Installation instructions and standard screws provided. When installing into concrete, anchors are recommended (not included).

Ensure your door is compatible; The bottom of your door will need at least .5" clearance from the floor. For exact measurements, see our product specs. Measure the length of your door and select the necessary size above.
