Obscessing Over Sound

Filed under: Noise Tolerance Levels — admin @ 5:43 am

The other day we began looking at sound not just as an object but as a subjective experience. This is important because it will help you to understand your own relationship with the sounds you hear.

When we hear repetative sounds, especially those that are aggravating or annoying, we tend to become obscessed over them. As a result, we lose control of our emotions and begin thinking irrationally.

One of the best things you can do to remedy this situation is to take a few minutes to sit down and think about the way you feel about your sound problems. Are they making you feel anxious or depressed? Are you beginning to feel like you want to take revenge?

None of these reactions are good but recognizing that they exist is the first step to realizing you really need to find a proper soundproofing solution. Remember this – sound problems should never make you feel helpless or out of control. There are soundproofing alternatives, even for those on the tighest of budgets – and you do NOT need to live with unwanted noise.
